A high volume manufacturer are currently looking to strengthen their IT department with the appointment of an IT Solutions Engineer.

As IT Solutions Engineer, you will be responsible for the support, maintenance, development, and continuous improvement of business-critical systems, with a primary focus on the QAD 2014SE ERP platform.

Working closely with business stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and external partners, the role ensures that enterprise applications, integrations, and infrastructure support operational excellence across manufacturing and supply chain functions.

Working from their facility in Shropshire, the IT Solutions Engineer will be responsible for:

  • ERP Systems Support & Development
  • Provide administration, support, maintenance, and enhancement of the QAD 2014SE ERP environment.
  • Work with business users to gather requirements and deliver scalable ERP solutions.

* Support ERP modules including

  • Manufacturing
  • Planning
  • Inventory Management
  • Purchasing
  • Sales Order Processing
  • Logistics
  • Finance interfaces
  • Involvement in system upgrades, patches, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Database Administration
  • Maintain and optimise Progress Open Edge databases.
  • Perform routine database monitoring, backup management, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Integration & EDI Management
  • Support and maintain EDI transactions with customers, suppliers, and logistics partners.
  • Troubleshoot EDI communication issues and data mapping errors.
  • Develop and support system integrations between QAD and external applications.
  • Linux Systems Administration
  • Administer Linux servers supporting QAD and associated applications.
  • Monitor system health, performance, security, and capacity.
  • Business Solutions & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual business processes.
  • Participate in digital transformation initiatives.
  • Produce technical documentation, support procedures, and knowledge articles.
  • Collaborate with IT, operations, and functional teams to improve system utilisation and business performance.
  • Project Delivery
  • Participate in IT projects from requirements gathering through implementation and support.
  • Provide technical leadership on ERPrelated initiatives.
  • Support testing, user training, and change management activities.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and software vendors where required.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise in QAD, Progress Open Edge technologies, Linux environments, and EDI integrations.
