We currently have an opportunity to recruit a Project Buyer/Buyer for a client that manufactures and supplies complex moulded assemblies across the UK and European market place. As Project Buyer, you will support new project business opportunities, with detailed bought in parts delivery proposals from within the approved supply chain sources.
Project Buyer Key Responsibilities:
- Provide an efficient response to RFQs for all new project enquiries to ensure suppliers' capability to deliver on time and at the right quality.
- Maintain an up-to-date supplier database covering all business requirements, ensuring supplier relationships are retained and maintain records against service & quality of product supplied.
- Work in conjunction with value quality teams to assess the capability of nominated suppliers.
- Utilise supplier negotiating to gain target costs and propose alternative solutions to meet the needs of the business and generate strategy for gaining commitment from new suppliers.
- Support project teams and maintain oversight of the supply chain responsibilities ensuring that promises are met and that the transition through to volume production and handover to the value streams is seamless and without disruption.
- Provide support to the Procurement Manager in the form of supplier development and supplier audit process.
Ideally, the successful candidate will hold suitable qualifications in either an engineering discipline or Business Systems with at least 2-4 years experience in a similar role within a high volume manufacturing arena. You should be able to demonstrate proven experience in a fast-moving customer-driven purchasing environment, high levels of computer literacy, including creating Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint. You should also be able to read engineering drawings and translate these into workable supplied parts. Excellent communication skills are a must, as you will be in dialogue with stakeholders both internal and external.
