A recognised high volume manufacturer are currently looking to strengthen their Quality department with the appointment of an NPI Quality Engineer. Working from their manufacturing facility in Shropshire, the NPI Quality Engineer will be responsible for:
- Customer facing, supporting from initial RFQ through to handover and stable production.
- Support the PSW activities towards on time PPAP completion.
- Manage the customer through the product design process, ensuring the design is fit for manufacture.
- Hold engineering team accountable for designing production processes and tooling to meet all customer requirements, as defined in CAD and supporting standards.
- Hold engineering team accountable for designing production processes and tooling with all achievable error proofing, supporting and driving a no fault forward design methodology.
- Where error proofing cannot be achieved, own and deliver the appropriate control methods, including the selection, design leadership and project management on the solutions in accordance with the timing and cost needs of the program.
- Be a contact on all advanced quality aspects, supporting customer meetings and managing internal stakeholders.
- Support the APQP activities, hold engineering accountable to complete design steps such as SCSS agreements, FMEA and drive for safe and suitable design, with robust cascade and links to the Control Plan.
- Work as part of the Product and Tooling Design Team to create a standard for gauge and fixture design, buy off and spares management.
- Work closely with current quality team during appropriate times during APQP, to ensure hand over stages are defined, agreed and supported.
- Own the Lessons Learned process to improve future quality and design performance.
- Identify new and emerging technologies that we can apply to error proof systems.
- Support quoting activities for new products.
- Promote the companies HSE policies across the department and plant.
Ideally, the successful candidate should have a minimum of an Apprenticeship or HNC/HND and proven experience in a Manufacturing background.
