The Opportunity
2025 marked a pivotal moment for us. M Squared Group was formed by joining forces with EBS Construction, combining M Squared’s expertise in commercial landscaping and groundwork with EBS’s mastery of specialist restoration, structural repairs, and building maintenance. We are not your typical contractors. We are an ambitious, tech-forward group flagged as a Business Insider "One to Watch" in 2025 and previously ranked in the FT1000 for Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies.
The role is uniquely positioned as our first outbound sales focused role, with an opportunity to add to our already forecast £27 million in revenue over the next two years, and a portfolio of over 850 complex projects. We are looking for a self-sufficient, driven Business Development professional dedicated to joining our already rapidly scaling business.
The Role
As our Business Development Manager, you will be the engine of our growth strategy. You will be responsible for identifying new market opportunities in both the public and private sectors, building strategic relationships with key procurement contacts, and driving revenue expansion. You will be out in the field generating new leads, but also nurturing existing relationships. You will work in a fast-paced environment, bridging the gap between external clients and our internal operations, finance, and marketing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Growth: Identify new markets, customer segments, and growth opportunities within the construction, landscaping, and restoration sectors.
- Lead Generation: Actively generate leads through outbound outreach, networking, industry events, and strategic partnerships.
- Relationship Management: Develop and nurture long-term relationships with key procurement contacts, stakeholders, and potential partners.
- Pipeline Management: Coordinate the flow of information between clients and internal teams to prepare winning proposals and presentations.
- Market Intelligence: Conduct research to analyse data, share market insights, and identify strategic advantages.
- Reporting: Provide accurate performance reports and revenue forecasts to senior management.
About You
We are looking for someone who knows the industry and has the network to hit the ground running.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Industry Experience: 3–5 years of Business Development or Sales experience specifically within the construction industry (public and private sectors).
- Network: An established network of contacts within the sector is highly desirable.
- Commercial Acumen: Experience preparing proposals, negotiating contracts, and supporting revenue growth.
- Communication: Exceptional presentation and negotiation skills; capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
- Agility: Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
Our Values Fit:
- You take pride in your work: You have a strong work ethic, a commitment to quality, and high attention to detail.
- You do what you say you’ll do: You are reliable, eager to contribute to growth, and not afraid to ask for support when needed.
- You are ambitious: You are keen to learn new skills, adopt new technologies, and seize opportunities.
- You do what it takes: You are adaptable, resilient, and proactive in solving problems.
