We have an exciting opportunity to recruit for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Design Engineer (Engine) to join our Engine Design team at our Dovenby Hall headquarters. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop a career in engine design engineering within a world‑class motorsport environment. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of engine components and assemblies used across our high‑performance motorsport projects.
The role responsibilities include:
- Engine Component Design: Assist in the design and development of high‑performance engine components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
- CAD & Documentation: Produce and maintain accurate 3D CAD models, technical drawings and engineering documentation using industry‑standard design software.
- Design Support: Support Senior Designers with concept generation, component selection, design reviews and technical investigations.
- Engineering Analysis: Support design validation activities by carrying out engineering calculations, tolerance studies and design reviews.
- Engineering Change Control: Support the implementation and management of engineering changes, ensuring documentation is updated accurately and efficiently.
- Fault Investigation: Support investigations into design‑related issues, assisting with root cause analysis and implementing engineering solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of engine components and assemblies to improve reliability, performance and serviceability.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, engine build, manufacturing and event teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Essential Criteria & Skills:
- Engineering Qualification: BEng or MEng degree qualification in Motorsport Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of fundamental mechanical and combustion engine systems.
- CAD & Design Skills: Familiarity with mechanical design software and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Attention to Detail: High levels of accuracy and attention to detail when producing engineering documentation.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Problem Solving: A logical and analytical approach to troubleshooting and resolving engineering challenges.
- Time Management: Ability to manage workloads effectively and deliver tasks to agreed deadlines.
- IT Literacy: Competent user of Microsoft Office applications and engineering software packages.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience using CAD software preferably CATIA V5.
- Previous work experience in a Design Office setting on an industrial placement year, or hands‑on practical experience (either volunteering on race weekends or formula student) would be beneficial.
