We have an exciting opportunity to recruit for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Design Engineer (Electrical) to join our Design team at our Dovenby Hall headquarters. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop a career in electrical design engineering within a world-class motorsport environment. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of electrical systems and components used across our competition cars and associated projects.
The role responsibilities include:
- Electrical System Design: Assist in the design and development of electrical systems, wiring harnesses, control systems and associated components.
- CAD & Documentation: Produce and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings and engineering documentation using industry-standard design software.
- Design Support: Support Senior Designers with concept generation, component selection, design reviews and technical investigations.
- Vehicle Development: Assist with the development, testing, and validation of electrical systems.
- Engineering Change Control: Support the implementation and management of engineering changes, ensuring documentation is updated accurately and efficiently.
- Fault Investigation: Assist with diagnosing and resolving electrical issues identified during vehicle build, testing and competition activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of electrical systems to improve reliability, performance and serviceability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, production, build and event teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Essential Criteria & Skills:
- Engineering Qualification: BEng or MEng degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Motorsport Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of fundamental electrical and electronic engineering principles.
- CAD & Design Skills: Familiarity with electrical design software and the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Attention to Detail: High levels of accuracy and attention to detail when producing engineering documentation.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Problem Solving: A logical and analytical approach to troubleshooting and resolving engineering challenges.
- Time Management: Ability to manage workloads effectively and deliver tasks to agreed deadlines.
- IT Literacy: Competent user of Microsoft Office applications and engineering software packages.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience using CAD software preferably CATIA V5.
- Previous work experience in a Design Office setting on an industrial placement year, or hands-on practical experience (either volunteering on race weekends or formula student) would be beneficial.
