We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and hands‑on Apprentice Electrical Harness Technician to join our Electrical Department. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to support the manufacture, assembly, and testing of complex electrical harnesses used across our competition cars. Alongside your apprenticeship training, you’ll gain real‑world experience working to the same standards used at the highest level of international motorsport.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assisting with the build and assembly of electrical wiring looms and harnesses.
- Learning to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
- Preparing, cutting, terminating, and labelling wires to exact specifications.
- Support fault‑finding, testing and quality checks.
- Carry out soldering, crimping, heat‑shrinking, and loom preparation using approved tools and techniques.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Working closely with experienced technicians to meet build deadlines.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We’re looking for a self‑motivated team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. The ideal candidate will be:
- Good knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.
- Strong interest in automotive, electrical engineering and motorsport.
- A practical hands‑on approach with excellent attention to detail and highly organised.
- Willingness to learn hands‑on workshop techniques.
- Ability to follow instructions, and work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Good communication skills, and a keen eye for problem solving.
Qualifications
GCSEs (or equivalent) grades 9 – 4 (or A* – C) in Maths, English, and a Science subject. A Level 2 qualification in Engineering is desirable, but not essential.
WHAT DO I NEED TO CONSIDER
This is a 42‑month (plus End Point Assessment) apprenticeship, where you will spend time with our local training provider Gen2, in addition to working on‑site at our Dovenby Hall Headquarters. At Gen2, you will learn a range of hands‑on and theoretical engineering skills. Training will be delivered on a one day per week basis at their training centre.
