We are working with a well-established fleet maintenance and technical services provider who are looking to recruit an experienced HGV Technician to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician with strong fault-finding capability across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and software-based systems, working on a modern commercial vehicle fleet.
The Role
As an HGV Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of commercial vehicles. The position involves advanced diagnostics, repairs, and technical support, including software programming and complex fault rectification.
Key responsibilities:
- Diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
- Identifying and rectifying manufacturer and body builder faults
- Software diagnostics, programming, and fault rectification (onsite and with remote support when required)
- Using dealer diagnostic software and tools for accurate fault finding
- Carrying out vehicle modifications and retrofits where required
- Ensuring all work complies with current legislation, DVSA standards, MOT standards, and road laws
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety at all times
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience working with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Proficiency in software diagnostics and programming on commercial vehicles
- Familiarity with dealer diagnostic software
- Good knowledge of DVSA regulations, MOT standards, and road legislation
- A professional, methodical approach to work
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £55,000 per annum
- Optional overtime available
- Saturdays and Sundays paid at overtime rates
- No shift work currently (with plans to introduce enhanced shift pay in the future)
