Job Overview
We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated Class 2 HGV Drivers to join our growing logistics team. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and collection of plant machinery/materials to and from construction sites nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load, secure, transport and offload plant machinery and equipment
- Conduct vehicle and load safety checks prior to departure
- Deliver and collect plant across various client sites in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate paperwork and delivery records
- Comply with all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies
- Represent M O’Brien Plant Hire professionally at all times with clients and site staff
- Liaise with the transport office regarding schedules and instructions
- Report any vehicle defects, incidents or delays promptly
Requirements
- Valid UK Class 2 driving licence
- Valid CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence)
- Valid Tachograph (Digital Driver Card)
- Experience transporting plant, construction equipment, or similar loads (Required)
- Knowledge of load securing and operation of Beavertail/trailers
- Strong understanding of health & safety and transport compliance
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
- Flexibility with start times and occasional overnight stays if required
Desirable
- NPORS, or CPCS qualification for loading/unloading plant (advantageous)
- Experience working in construction logistics or with a plant hire company
- Knowledge of route planning and satellite navigation systems
