We're hiring for a Recycling Yard & Concrete Plant Assistant. Teale Materials operate a select group of material handling businesses with a primary focus on Construction, Demolition & Excavation (C, D & E) waste. Within the MJ TEALE Recycled Sand & Aggregates business, we are growing and we're looking for someone who takes real ownership, detail & pride in their work. If you have an interest in plant & machinery, can stay ahead of problems, and are keen to learn, this is your role. We are willing to train individuals up.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Yours & others safety - when operating wheeled loading shovels to load company & customer vehicles with our range of products & assist with stockpile movements.
- Teale Collect Drive-Thru Concrete Plant; ensuring a high level of front facing customer service & making sure the plant operations run smooth.
- Supplier deliveries – offloading various deliveries via FLT & cleaning our fleet of plant & vehicles when required.
- Learning & upskilling – you will learn various other roles/plant & machinery within the company to accommodate holiday cover.
What you'll be doing:
- Daily walk-round checks of plant & equipment in use.
- Operating wheeled loading shovel.
- Operating FLT.
- Taking pride in being the front face of Concrete collections.
- Taking ownership for operations of our Concrete Plant.
- Keeping all equipment to a high housekeeping standard. Keeping the concrete plant tidy & clean throughout the day & a full clean down at the end of each shift.
- Being personable towards customers that visit the yard.
- Keeping stockpiles managed & hoppers loaded.
- Cleaning (washing) & greasing company plant & machinery.
- Learning about concrete specifications & simple tests to conduct.
- Offloading supplier deliveries to the yard & taking to correct location via FLT.
A successful candidate will be a person with a good set of principles. Who can operate equipment in a safe manner. Who possesses or is willing to learn basic mechanical skills & has a tenacity to strive for independent working. A good attitude to work is crucial at our company and as you will be talking to customers good communication skills are important. An all-rounder mindset is thoroughly encouraged – as each day may be different. We are an efficient, lean operation & all we ask is people try their best each day & crack on with any tasks at hand. We want someone who is eager to learn and develop with the company.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Wage: Starting from the applicable National Minimum or Living Wage rate depending on candidate age and experience, ranging from £10.00 (for 18-20-year-olds) up to £13.00 per hour for more experienced candidates.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, Saturday mornings (occasional), Overtime over 45 hours where needed.
