Senior Front of House & Retail Assistant
Location: Newport Town Centre
Hours: Part-Time / Full-Time (at least 30 hours per week) Job share may be possible for the right candidates.
Salary: National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage to start (negotiable upon satisfactory completion of probation period) + tips

About the Role
We are an established, growing group of businesses in the heart of Newport town centre spanning hospitality, retail and laundry services. We are seeking a reliable, flexible and enthusiastic all-rounder to take on a diverse role split between our busy, popular restaurant and our newly opened specialist supermarket.
As the restaurant operates primarily during evenings and weekends, your hours will be balanced with weekday/daytime shifts at our retail supermarket. This role requires maturity, high adaptability and the ability to work independently as well as alongside the business owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Senior Front of House: Overseeing the floor during busy shifts, managing opening/closing procedures, cash handling and using restaurant point-of-sale software
- Retail Operations: Working independently in our specialist supermarket to manage stock rotation, inventory ordering, replenishment and utilising retail checkout systems
- Customer Excellence: Providing a polished, welcoming environment across both settings and resolving customer enquiries calmly under pressure
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven front-of-house experience in a busy cafe, restaurant, or high-volume hospitality environment. Retail experience is preferred,
- Licensing Compliance: Due to alcohol and age-restricted product sales in both the restaurant and shop, candidates must be aged 18 or over.
- Core Skills: Excellent communication skills, a proactive mindset, strong team spirit and the ability to prioritise tasks during peak periods.
- Physical Demands: Ability to undertake physical operational tasks, including prolonged standing and handling stock/inventory deliveries.
