M H Southern & Co Limited is a fifth-generation, family-owned timber importer and sawmill with over 110 years of heritage. We specialise in supplying high-quality timber, as well as timber coatings and finishes, offering bespoke, made‑to‑measure solutions to the Merchant & joinery industry. We are currently seeking an Internal Sales Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience or knowledge of timber products—particularly hardwoods—although this is not essential. More importantly, we are looking for someone who is motivated, customer‑focused, and eager to contribute to a long‑established, independent business that prides itself on delivering exceptional products and service. This is an excellent opportunity to join a company with a strong reputation, where quality and customer satisfaction are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing quotations for customers
  • Dealing with customers both face to face and over the telephone
  • Giving excellent customer service and sound product advice
  • Taking a proactive approach to timber product sales, using every opportunity to make or increase a sale
  • Generate new business with existing and new customers
  • Knowledge of using CRM Systems preferred

Skills & Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Previous experience in the Timber Industry or a similar role would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
