Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, we're enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. This will be based on a National Grid site in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
What will you be doing? As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll be a pivotal part of the commercial team supporting the delivery of the Great Grid Upgrade! Are you a motivated, strategic thinker with the ability to plan effectively? You'll be responsible for:
- Supporting commercial operations by preparing reports, managing subcontractors, and ensuring timely, compliant documentation.
- Assisting with implementing commercial systems and liaising with project teams to recover costs and enhance profit through identifying variations and claims.
- Maintaining risk registers, developing negotiation skills, and improving processes for accuracy and efficiency.
- Collaborating with Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers to ensure financial oversight and forecasting.
- Attending meetings, producing manuals, and ensuring monthly reporting aligns with client and internal standards (OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 policies).
- Performing duties flexibly to meet business needs and uphold health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
What you'll bring:
- Knowledge of the Electricity Transmission industry would be desirable!
- Previous experience in Quantity Surveying with a relevant qualification.
- Contract costing knowledge.
- Contract law NEC 3 & 4, Option A, C & E.
- Subcontract Management & cost/value reconciliation.
- Excellent negotiating interpersonal & communication skills.
- Analytical skills & financial awareness.
- Full UK Driving license.
