This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.
What will you be doing?
Estimating and bid pricing activities in M Group are governed by the Schedule of Delegated Authorities (SODA) and Work Winning Governance Procedures. The Managing Estimator will lead the estimating function for high-value framework contracts and complex project-specific tenders, ensuring pricing strategies are competitive, compliant, and commercially sound. This role requires a highly experienced, commercially astute professional with the ability to mentor Estimators, challenge assumptions, and influence winning strategies to support the Group’s growth and margin targets.
Working closely with the Chief Estimator and Managing Estimators, this role sets the estimating strategy, systems, governance, and assurance frameworks. It leads estimating activities for high-value and strategic tenders, ensuring full compliance with SODA and Work Winning Governance procedures. Responsibilities include overseeing complex cost estimates, providing expert commercial and technical input to bid strategies, and reviewing and challenging tender submissions to ensure risks, opportunities, and contingencies are robustly addressed. Acting as the primary contact for estimating governance at tender reviews and stage gates, the role also drives continuous improvement in estimating processes, tools, and market intelligence.
