This role will be within our MEICA and capital maintenance team. Our Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) experts offer a one-stop solution, including ongoing operation and maintenance services.
M Group Water is currently looking to recruit Design Managers to work on our contracts across the UK. You’ll provide design leadership across small to large infrastructure projects, coordinating multidisciplinary in-house and external design teams including civil, MEICA, process, and geotechnical engineers to deliver compliant, high-quality designs on time and within budget. Ensure all outputs meet client requirements, technical standards, and UK legislative obligations, including full compliance with CDM 2015 regulations. Working closely with senior leadership and delivery teams, help establish robust design processes, procedures, and governance to support right-first-time design delivery. Manage design programmes, technical risk, change control, resourcing, and forecasting, ensuring alignment with construction and operational needs. Act as the primary technical interface with clients and stakeholders, embedding buildability and operational requirements into designs while championing innovation, sustainability, and low-carbon solutions. Place strong emphasis on health and safety by ensuring design risks are identified, mitigated, and clearly communicated for the construction phase. Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing design environment.
What you’ll bring:
- A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline (e.g., Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering).
- Significant experience in design and management within the water or a related infrastructure sector.
- Proven track record of project leadership and successful delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- In-depth knowledge of UK H&S and design regulations, particularly CDM 2015.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage and motivate diverse teams.
- Commercially astute with experience in managing project finances, risks, and change control.
