Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Metering team. You’ll join the leading provider of metering services in the UK energy retail sector, providing efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity and water meters. Our meter readers install, maintain and manage meters to ensure customers are billed correctly and energy usage patterns are monitored.
What will you be doing? As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be visiting various properties throughout the day, working on Smart Meters in both homes and businesses. You’ll be using a handheld device to complete your tasks, and once done, you’ll update all the details on your tablet, keeping records for new and existing customers up to date. No need to worry about live electric work—no previous technical qualifications are required!
Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll be doing:
- Reconnecting Gas and Electric Smart Meters
- Changing SIM cards, modems, and small gain aerials
- Re-joining smart devices to the network while in contact with energy companies
- Exchanging batteries on gas meters
- Completing site surveys and other support tasks that require a field-based engineer to visit properties

- Full Manual Driving Licence
- Good geographical knowledge of your local and surrounding areas is key for this role

- Ability to use hand tools effectively
- Experience with handheld tools is important
- Ability to lift, carry, and climb ladders while ensuring health and safety requirements are met
- Self-motivated and organised, as this is a lone working role
- Dedicated to providing excellent customer service
