M Group Energy Infrastructure Division is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Head of Finance to lead the financial strategy, planning, and performance management across our Energy Substation and Renewable Connection portfolio. This senior leadership role will be pivotal in driving financial excellence, supporting operational decision-making, and ensuring robust financial governance.
You will lead a team of finance professionals and work closely with the executive and operational leadership to deliver sustainable growth and margin improvement. You will operate at the centre of a business unit which has the ambition to grow as it supports the UK transition to clean power. Direct development and support from the Divisional Finance Director, with a strong focus on building capability, judgement, and confidence in senior finance leadership. Exposure to Group Finance and senior divisional leadership, providing breadth, visibility, and future career progression within a growing organisation.
- Lead financial strategy, planning, budgeting, and forecasting across the Energy Substation and Renewable Connections portfolio.
- Drive improvements in financial performance, including recovery plans where results are below expectations.
- Provide strategic financial insight to support business growth, investment decisions, bids, and tenders.
- Partner closely with operational and commercial leaders to influence decision-making and improve margins.
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, ensuring clear objectives, capability building, and succession planning.
- Ensure robust financial reporting, governance, and compliance, including management accounts, audits, and revenue recognition.
- Own divisional financial inputs into 5-year business plans, business cases, and investment appraisals.
- Embed strong construction finance disciplines, delivering credible forecasts, cost control, and working capital optimisation.
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience. Proven experience operating in complex, contract-led environments, including NEC or similar forms of contract. Proven track record in a senior finance leadership role within a business-facing environment. Strong understanding of contract accounting, commercial finance, and operational performance. Experience in construction, infrastructure, or energy is strongly preferred, particularly in contract-led environments with complex delivery and risk profiles.
