Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Electricity Transmission team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. This role is working on our SSE OHL projects around the Aberdeen area.

What will you be doing?

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be part of our Overhead Lines Commercial Team who are responsible for actively assisting the Commercial Department and project team to maximise profit and reduce risk. This is a key role requiring strong commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, and experience of delivering infrastructure or utility projects!

  • Support the preparation of reports, claims, and commercial documentation within agreed timescales while maintaining strong relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers.
  • Monitor project risks, maintain risk registers, and ensure effective subcontractor and supplier management, including quotations, valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Assist in managing compensation events, contract costs, and project profitability through identification of variations, delays, and claims.
  • Contribute to financial reporting, forecasting, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Attend project meetings, develop commercial records and manuals, and work closely with commercial and project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and Health supporting a project team.

Qualifications:

  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • Graduate or graduate calibre.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Willingness to travel / stay away where required.
