As an organisation, there is little we don’t do and plenty to get involved in. Our Group Support roles are vital in making sure we can help over 12,000 people deliver essential infrastructure seamlessly across water, energy, transport and telecom.
You will be working alongside qualified and highly experienced members of staff, many of whom would have started their careers as an Apprentice just like you. You will have a dedicated mentor assigned who will help you maximize your potential by sharing your knowledge. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain recognised and accredited qualifications whilst you earn and gain a vast amount of experience within a highly respected company. This apprenticeship will last for 18 months and once completed you will have a Level 3 Business Administrator qualification!
As a Business Administration Apprentice, your responsibilities will include:
- Support and engage with different parts of the organisation and interact with internal or external customers.
- Contribute to the efficiency of an organisation, through support of functional areas, working across teams and resolving issues.
- Lending support to the daily tasks that keep everything running smoothly, whether it’s organising files or responding to queries.
- Learning how to use software tools to manage information and update records, ensuring everything is neat, accurate, and ready to go when needed.
- Drafting emails, putting together reports, or preparing letters, playing a part in shaping communications for the team.
- Scheduling and setting up meetings, taking notes and sharing outcomes to make meetings productive and well-organised.
- Interacting with colleagues and others, answering questions and finding solutions with warmth and professionalism.
- Mastering everyday tasks like printing, scanning, and keeping filing systems in top shape, both electronically and on paper.
This role is all about learning from gaining new IT skills to improving how you manage your time and approach challenges. The flexibility and responsiveness required allows the apprentice to develop a wide range of skills. Delivering responsibilities efficiently and with integrity, showing a positive attitude. Demonstrating effective communication skills (both written and verbal) and adopting a proactive approach to developing skills. Show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making and the potential for people management responsibilities through mentoring or coaching others.
As an Apprentice within M Groups, you will undertake both a technical programme as well as our internal EU Skills endorsed Apprenticeship Development Scheme (ADS) programme. The ADS programme is a blend of online and face-to-face sessions, involving soft skills development and mental health/pastoral care support. Some elements of the scheme are residential, which will take place in England. Therefore, applicants must be prepared to travel and stay away from home. The remainder of your time will be spent with our training provider or under supervision on site. Whilst on your apprentice programme, your travel to and from the providers’ locations, hotel accommodation and all meals will be fully paid for.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
- Effective communication skills.
- Keen to learn with an interest in development and progression.
- Attention to detail skills.
- Must have a can-do attitude; to be polite and courteous.
- Knowledge of MS suite.
- You will ideally have a basic level of numeracy and literacy, having achieved a grade 4-9 or equivalent in GCSE Mathematics and English.
