Where will you be working?

You’ll be joining our Highways maintenance team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes. Milestone Infrastructure is the UK’s leading highways maintenance provider, looking after 48,000 km of roads, 300,000 lighting assets and 20,000 miles of footways, always with a view to ensuring that all works are carried out as sustainably as possible and with minimal impact to local communities.

What will the apprentice be doing?

An excellent opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to undertake an apprenticeship to become a fully trained Auto-care technician with Milestone Infrastructure Limited. Excellent and extensive on the job training will be given by the company with the apprenticeship qualification being undertaken with a local college.

  • Contribute to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace, including the maintenance of key equipment and carrying out general housekeeping
  • Carry out vehicle safety inspections and routine maintenance in line with manufacturers specifications or approved schedules, company procedures and complete approved documentation
  • Use a range of specialist tools & equipment, mechanical & electrical measuring tools and diagnostic equipment to support fault identification and repair
  • Access vehicle technical data to inform inspections and make judgements on wear and serviceability
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will enrol onto Autocare Technician Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard. Functional skills in maths and English if required.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

As a Milestone Apprentice, you will be recruited on a permanent contract and after completing your apprenticeship you will be promoted into the business. You will also have further development opportunity through professional qualification or training courses.

GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above) Desired. An offer of employment for this role will be subject to a satisfactory DBS Check. Such checks will be requested once a conditional offer of employment has been made.

What you’ll bring:

  • Willingness to learn new skills and work as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Functional Skills requirements equivalent to Maths and English GCSE at grade E or above. If you do not currently have these qualifications, the training provider will help you achieve them as part of the apprenticeship.
  • The Right to Work in the UK (you must have lived in the UK for 3+ years)
