Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure. This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.
What will you be doing?
As our Quality Assurance Manager you will be working on our Thames Water Capital Delivery Contract, delivering projects for our Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Programme. You'll play an integral role in our programme, which involves £400m investment for the next 5 years. The programme of work includes the design and construction across Thames Valley and South London - including predominantly our Mains Rehab and Civils Programme. You'll offer operational assistance for planning, assurance and review of all aspects of quality through our processes and procedures and in line with ISO 9001:2015. You'll be reporting directly to the SHEQ Manager providing the support and leadership to ensure the delivery of projects to the highest quality standards. Ensuring compliance with established specifications and procedures, driving a culture of right first time throughout the business, from conception to handover. You'll assist the delivery teams at every stage to ensure and enhance compliance with the Business Management System and Client requirements. Identifying areas for improvements and implementing those improvements by process/procedure development. Implementing, reviewing and approving all quality documentation. Ensuring effective Project Quality Plans, Inspection Test Plans, Key Deliverables and Post Project Reviews are in place to successfully manage works. You'll be leading the internal audit process, coordination of external audits, including Client auditing and accreditation assessments. Additionally, the Non-Conformance Process will be under your control ensuring actions are closed out within a timely manner and following engagement with the Leadership Team. You'll engage with the client at the relevant levels to build/develop and maintain relationships. Be a key contributor to the business strategy to ensure sustainable performance. Effective communicator with the broader contract and water divisional team.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
- Experience as a Quality Manager of delivering £multi-million utility projects for Utility Companies or similar including on a Design and Build basis
- HND or Degree level in Civil Engineering or equivalent is a distinct advantage
- Quality Management training i.e. BSI Diploma in Quality Management or equivalent is desirable
- Member of chartered institute or equivalent is desirable
- Strong auditing skills
- ISO 9001: 2015 Auditor/Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent is desirable
- Working to IChemE Burgundy and NEC4 Options A, C and E is desirable
Desirable attributes: analytical problem solving, strong interpersonal skills at all levels, proficient in root cause analysis and promote continual improvement.
