What you'll be doing:
- You will provide engineering support across a wide range of projects, focusing on Safety, Health and the Environment, Project Control, Procurement, Site Matters and Quality.
- As a senior member of the team, you will often work closely with the Client, so it is important to remain customer-focused, calm and collaborative, building strong working relationships.
- Although your role is primarily to support the Project Manager or Principal Electrical Engineer, the size and complexity of certain projects may require you to manage elements independently.
- A strong understanding of current legislation, requirements and best practice is essential, as you will help ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently.
- This includes implementing the company’s Safety Management System, with particular emphasis on the Electrical Safety Management System, supporting the Project Manager in achieving zero accidents, ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety Plan and carrying out site safety audits.
- In Project Control, you will assist in preparing construction programmes, monitor and report progress, ensure timely delivery, liaise with the project team on programme requirements, maintain strict cost control and contribute to achieving zero customer complaints.
- Within Procurement, you will work closely with the Project Manager or Principal Electrical Engineer to agree arrangements with service providers, produce procurement schedules, organise subcontractors to meet timescales and support negotiations to secure best-value procurement.
- For Site Matters, you will support the Site Manager by managing Duty Holder responsibilities, maintaining high standards of workmanship, ensuring high-risk activities are controlled, overseeing day-to-day electrical installation, engaging with designers on queries, reviewing RAMS, contributing to programme assessments and assisting with commercial evaluations.
- In terms of Quality, you will help ensure installations meet BES and Client expectations by coordinating disciplines, inspecting works, monitoring snags, interpreting drawings, managing technical submissions, communicating standards, promoting the BES Quality System, assessing buildability and carrying out testing checks in a Qualified Supervisor capacity.
What you'll bring:
- ONC/HNC in Building Services / Electrical Engineering discipline (desirable)
- NVQ C&G level 3 electrical installations including 2391
- Thorough knowledge of electrical systems/installation works.
- Knowledge of BMS control systems.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of electrical standards, good workmanship and best practice.
- Willingness to learn about and understand other industry specific systems which we incorporate within the electrical sub-contractor package.
- Able to understand design principles and carry out design associated with minor changes.
- Trained to a minimum safety standard of SMSTS.
- Conversant with CDM regulations and able to operate at senior level in fulfilling the role of principal contractor.
- Experienced in the pharmaceutical and healthcare markets particularly in the construction of laboratories and cleanrooms.
- Working knowledge of company safety and quality procedures.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in industry.
- IT literate and conversant with Microsoft Office, Outlook and Project.
- Familiar with design packages/tools ie Amtech, Dialux, Navisworks, AutoCAD, etc.
- IOSH Managing Safety
- Knowledge of Mechanical services
- Although you will be experienced in delivering projects in your core skill, experience in the delivery of turnkey projects is also preferred.
