At M Group, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Metering team, you’ll join the leading provider of metering services and data collection in the UK energy retail sector, we provide efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity and water meters. Our meter workers install, maintain and manage meters to make sure customers are billed correctly and energy usage patterns are monitored. We leverage our industry expertise and data insight capabilities to create solutions that fit the needs of our customers.
What will you be doing?
As Bid Manager within the M Group, you will play a pivotal role in securing new business and supporting the divisions strategic growth objectives. Reporting to the Head of Bids, you will lead the end-to-end management of high quality, competitive bids across In-home. You will work collaboratively with operational and commercial teams to translate business strategy into compelling written submissions that clearly articulate our value, capability, and commitment to excellence. Through effective bid planning, coordination, and delivery, you will ensure all submissions are engaging, technically robust, and aligned to client requirements and scoring criteria. This role requires a proactive, resilient, and detail focused professional who thrives in a fast paced, evolving environment. You will bring strong communication expertise, producing clear, persuasive content from detailed technical responses to impactful presentations, while confidently managing competing priorities and tight deadlines. Ultimately, your contribution will be key to driving sustainable growth, enhancing win rates, and positioning the M Group Energy Division as a trusted partner in a rapidly changing energy market.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Lead and deliver strategic bids across the Energy In Home division, supporting growth in areas such as smart metering, low-carbon technologies, and home energy services.
- Own the end-to-end bid lifecycle, ensuring submissions align with process, regulatory requirements, client specifications, and evolving market demands.
- Facilitate bid kick-off meetings, solution workshops, and storyboard sessions to develop compelling, customer-focused proposals.
- Develop and manage detailed bid plans, ensuring resources, timelines, and operational inputs are aligned to tender requirements.
- Work closely with operational, technical, and commercial teams to shape innovative, deliverable solutions for in-home energy services.
- Ensure all submissions are high quality, compliant, and tailored, clearly demonstrating customer benefits, service excellence, safety, and sustainability.
- Articulate the divisions value proposition, including customer experience, efficiency, decarbonisation, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain strong stakeholder engagement across the business, ensuring clear communication throughout the bid process.
- Partner with sales and business development teams to identify, shape, and convert opportunities within the Energy in Home market.
- Support the development of compelling client engagement materials, presentations, and proposals aligned to market trends and client priorities.
- Help to maintain high quality bid library content, including case studies that showcase successful in-home energy solutions.
What you’ll bring:
- Significant experience in bid and tender management, ideally within the energy, utilities, or in-home services sector.
- Strong understanding of the Energy in Home market, including smart metering, decarbonisation, energy efficiency, or customer-facing field services.
- Proven track record of winning bids and delivering against growth targets in a competitive, regulated environment.
- Exceptional written skills are required, with the ability to translate complex technical solutions into clear, persuasive customer-focused responses.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams (operational, technical, commercial) to deliver high-quality, compliant submissions.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to identify and shape addressable opportunities within target markets.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience utilising AI as a critical friend to enhance quality and consistency.
- High attention to detail and strong quality assurance capability.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond creatively to client requirements and challenges.
- Experience producing high-quality written bid materials that reflect innovation and professionalism.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to deliver under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel as required.
