Where will you be working?
At M Group Energy were enabling the energy essential to support our lives.
We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
This role will be within our Distribution and Connections division. As one of the largest Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) in the UK, we support distribution network operations across infrastructure.
Our team installs and maintains distribution networks and ensures reliable connections for customers. carrying out electrical planned work, customer connections and network reinforcement.
What will you be doing?
Are you an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) with proven competency at 11kV, 33kV, or 132kV? Join our substation construction team delivering critical infrastructure projects across the UK Power Networks (UKPN) Distribution Network in the East of England.
Were hiring High Voltage SAPs to support HV/LV electrical engineering projects, including substation builds, network upgrades, and planned outages. Youll work on UKPNs 11kV, 33kV, and 132kV systems, ensuring safe and efficient operations in line with Distribution Safety Rules.
- Plan and execute HV switching schedules using PowerOn and other DNO tools
- Isolate and earth high voltage apparatus safely
- Issue Permits to Work, Sanctions for Test, and Limitations of Access
- Develop and implement safety documentation and method statements
- Attend client meetings and resolve operational issues
- Mentor junior engineers and support project planning
- Ensure compliance with UKPN safety standards, M Group policies, and HSE legislation
What Youll Bring
- SAP authorisation at 11kV, 33kV, or 132kV on a UK DNO network (e.g., UKPN, SSE, SPEN, ENWL)
- Experience in substation construction, HV commissioning, or network maintenance
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, safety regulations, and outage planning
- HNC / Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Full UK driving licence travel required across East Anglia and surrounding counties and regular attendance at our Stevenage office
