Where will you be working?
At M Group Telecom, we’re enabling and enhancing telecom networks, playing a lead role in the delivery of our tech enabled future. We deliver full network cycle services for fixed, private and mobile operators. Private networks - We find the best technology, manage assets and refresh systems. With 24/7 network operations, we keep things running smoothly, while operating comprehensive network repair and maintenance to keep everything in top shape.
What will you be doing?
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer (PE) or Lead Commissioning Engineer (LCE) to support the National Grid OPTEL Gen 3 replacement programme. Working within the National Grid account, the role provides technical assurance across Critical National Infrastructure projects, supporting the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager through all delivery stages. You will scope, plan, implement and deliver installation and commissioning projects of varying scale and complexity, working closely with field, project and network operations teams. Responsibilities include:
- Technical planning
- BoM creation
- Risk identification
- Progress monitoring
- On-site inspections
- Quality documentation
- Standards compliance
- HSE adherence
- Stakeholder engagement
- Technical issue resolution
- Acceptance into live service
What you’ll bring?
You will have a strong networking technical background, specialising in circuit delivery, equipment ordering, and services and solutions delivery. A basic understanding of CWDM, DWDM, SDH, Carrier Ethernet, MPLS-TP, SYNC and OTDR is required, alongside telecoms DC power principles, fibre installation and testing, and multi-protocol testing. You will take a proactive approach to managing tasks and issues, be proficient in Microsoft Office, and ideally have experience in Critical National Infrastructure, design assurance, regulatory engagement, or technical governance roles.
