Where will you be working?
At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
We’re looking for an experienced design engineer to help shape the future of the UK’s energy infrastructure. Do you have a strong background in high-voltage substation design, and enjoy working on complex, multidisciplinary projects? This could be your next big move!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Design substations that meet client needs, budgets, and deadlines
- Help with tenders, contracts, and technical drawings
- Work closely with teams and clients to deliver projects smoothly
- Visit sites often and stay connected with the operations team
- Support and train engineers and CAD technicians
- Join design reviews and help improve standards and processes
- Follow safety, quality, and environmental rules (OHSAS 18001, ISO9001, ISO14001)
- Communicate clearly and professionally across all levels
What You’ll Bring:
- Degree or HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- 5+ years experience in power transmission and substation design
- Strong knowledge of National Grid, British Standards, and UK design rules
- Skilled in 2D CAD software (Autodesk preferred)
- Able to quickly learn new engineering software
- Experience with NGET stage 4.4 design and earthing up to 400kV
- Knowledge of related areas: overhead lines, civil design, protection & control, HV cables
- Bonus: MSc, chartership, expert in CDEGS, AutoCAD, and power system tools
