Where will you be working?
We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. We also upgrade existing substation and overhead powerline infrastructure to ensure the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
What will you be doing?
This is a full-time role on an 18-month fixed-term contract - ideal if you want solid experience on major net-zero projects without a long-term commitment. You’ll be involved in high-voltage substation and overhead line schemes, working closely with bid, design, commercial and project teams. There’s plenty of flexibility too, with adaptable working hours and 23 days a week in the Annesley (Nottinghamshire) office.
Day-to-day, you’ll get involved in:
- Spotting scope gaps and risks early
- Supporting the bids manager with kick-off meetings and programme planning
- Working with procurement and commercial teams
- Challenging and understanding project solutions
- Reviewing supply chain quotes and benchmarking costs
- Pulling together tender prices in Excel (Candy may be used in future)
- Preparing client pricing documents and helping with presentations
- Building strong working relationships across the business

What you’ll bring:
- Previous experience in 400kV substation and overhead line estimating (preferable)
- Previous experience in infrastructure projects (essential)
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel (essential) and able to use other Microsoft Office applications
- Basic understanding of engineering/construction technology and terminology
- Ability to read and understand engineering specifications and drawings
- Basic understanding of contractual terminology
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- An attention to detail, pro-active, organised and methodical approach to work
