Where will you be working?
At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. This is a hybrid role; 3 days working on a project in Yorkshire / main office in Annesley and 2 days working remotely.
What will you be doing?
As a Senior Planner, you’ll be part of our planning department who are responsible for producing robust and detailed programmes for all works associated with the design, procurement and construction phases of the projects. You’ll:
- Develop, optimise and implement construction programmes, coordinating resources, outages, consents and wayleaves
- Produce detailed progress trackers for weekly reporting
- Support the Head of Commercial and planning team in building a strong planning culture
- Help integrate the company’s cost management system for automated CPI/SPI reporting and robust processes
- Champion programme management procedures, policies and standards
- Participate in project handover meetings with Bid, Project Management and QS teams
- Work closely with Project Managers and QS to maximise project performance and attend site meetings as needed
- Provide planning input during tender stages
- Represent the business at client meetings and meet KPI-driven deadlines
- Gather benchmarking data to support value-for-money assessments
- Manage risk, issue and opportunity registers in line with change management processes
- Keep up to date with new planning techniques, technologies and initiatives
- Contribute to delivering a coordinated business improvement agenda
- Collaborate with commercial and financial members of the Planning & Systems team
- Monitor programme compliance with contractual obligations
- Support achievement of business/project targets, manage risks, control costs and ensure safe, compliant delivery
- Contribute to shaping strategic objectives
What you’ll bring
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across UK sites
- Experience of working in the Energy sector would be advantageous but we will consider major infrastructure experience
- Competent in the following planning software: Primavera P6 & Microsoft Project
- Experience of earned value management and NEC contracts
- Change management process
