Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

What will you be doing? We’re looking for a Bid Manager to join our growing bids team and help us secure exciting new opportunities across renewable energy, substations, distribution networks, EV infrastructure and major infrastructure projects. You’ll be at the heart of the work-winning process. You’ll help develop the strategy, manage the plan, coordinate input from across the business and make sure every submission clearly shows why M Group is the right partner for our clients. You’ll bring together input from operational, technical, commercial, estimating, SHEQ and business development colleagues, helping to shape solutions that are deliverable, competitive and clearly linked to what our clients need. You’ll also facilitate kick-off meetings, solution workshops and storyboard sessions to create strong, customer-focused proposals.

This role is hybrid and we can be flexible on location; we have offices in Newcastle & Nottingham but would also consider remote workers (within the UK).

  • Lead and deliver strategic bids across the Network Infrastructure division, supporting opportunities in renewable connections, substations, EV infrastructure and electricity distribution.
  • Manage the end-to-end bid lifecycle, from opportunity handover and planning through to submission and post-tender activity.
  • Lead and manage the governance requirements to ensure all necessary approvals and sign offs are undertaken.
  • Develop clear bid plans, ensuring responsibilities, deadlines, resources and review points are understood and managed.
  • Facilitate kick-off meetings, solution workshops and storyboard sessions to shape strong, client-focused responses.
  • Work closely with operational, technical and commercial teams to develop innovative, practical and deliverable solutions.
  • Provide guidance and critical review of high-quality written submissions to ensure they are compliant, tailored and easy to evaluate and showcase our services in the best light.
  • Translate technical and commercial information into clear, persuasive content that demonstrates M Group’s capability and value.
  • Maintain strong communication with stakeholders throughout the bid process, creating clarity, momentum and accountability.
  • Partner with business development and sales teams to identify, shape and convert opportunities across the energy infrastructure market.
  • Support the development of client presentations, engagement materials and proposal content.
  • Contribute to bid improvement activity, lessons learned and the ongoing development of bid tools, templates and library content.
  • Support and mentor Bid Writers, Bid Coordinators and other contributors, helping to develop capability and promote excellence across the wider work-winning community.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience managing complex bids and tenders, ideally with at least 2-3 years experience in infrastructure, utilities, construction, engineering or energy.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working with different teams, managing multiple deadlines and bringing structure to complex submissions.
  • Commercially aware, with a good understanding of tendering and bid processes.
  • Detail-focused, while still able to see the bigger picture.
  • Proactive, resilient and keen to improve how things are done.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting or managing a small team.
  • APMP Practitioner qualification or equivalent bid management experience.
