Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Metering team. You’ll join the leading provider of metering services in the UK energy retail sector, providing efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity and water meters. Our meter readers install, maintain and manage meters to ensure customers are billed correctly and energy usage patterns are monitored.

What will you be doing? As a Field Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading and motivating a team of up to 30 field-based Smart Maintenance Engineers. You will own the day-to-day operational performance of your geographical area, driving safety, efficiency, quality and continuous improvement. This is a role where you’ll make a real difference supporting your team, enhancing customer outcomes and shaping the success of our services. You’ll work autonomously, but never alone collaborating closely with other Field Managers, operational leaders and support functions to deliver against our strategic goals. You will be home based with regular travel across CH, CW, WA, L, BB, BL, FY, M, OL, SK, WN, LA postcodes.

You’ll be responsible for the overall performance and wellbeing of your team, ensuring they have everything they need to succeed. Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing a dispersed team of Smart Maintenance Engineers
  • Owning operational delivery, financial performance and business KPIs within your area
  • Ensuring efficient scheduling and distribution of work
  • Managing performance, coaching individuals and implementing improvement plans where needed
  • Driving a strong safety culture, ensuring PPE, equipment and processes are in place and followed
  • Investigating incidents and complaints, ensuring accurate root cause analysis and timely closure
  • Ensuring high-quality data and using MI insights to drive improvements
  • Championing communication making sure updates are understood and actioned
  • Collaborating across regions to share best practice and drive continuous improvement

This is a varied, hands-on leadership role where no two days are the same and where your decisions directly influence service quality, customer experience and business success.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience managing a field-based workforce, ideally in energy or a related sector
  • Strong operational management background with a focus on performance and safe delivery
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and use insights to drive improvements
  • Confident, people-centric leader able to support, challenge and inspire
  • Experience managing dispersed teams and balancing multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or willingness to achieve it)
