We work right through from concept to completion, and you would work as an integral part of a multi-service design and installation team and be proactive in ensuring effective communication and production of high-quality information. Much of your work will be in the Pharmaceutical, Healthcare and Food and Drink Sectors, providing detailed designs on projects ranging from sensitive research facilities to complex and demanding sterile manufacturing environments. What will you be doing? Although reporting to the Design Lead you will have responsibility for the following mechanical / HVAC design processes from concept through to detailed design and construction / commissioning.
Design through all RIBA Stages. Support to Procurement teams. Support for Programming and Planning. Design support through construction.
In line with our core business, you will apply your knowledge and competence in the detailed design of building services systems to complex validated facilities, which meet CGMP and ISO 14644 requirements such as:
Research and QA / QC laboratories Sensitive research facilities Pilot scale manufacturing Full scale manufacturing Potent processing Sterile manufacturing
You will be a key member of a multi-service design and installation team, ensuring clear communication and high-quality outputs while supporting junior engineers. The role requires proficiency in producing detailed procurement-ready designs, including sizing, selection, space planning and routing, supported by CAD draughtsmen. Competence of all major building services systems would be required including:
General & process specific supply & extract ventilation Comfort air conditioning Process specific heating / cooling / dehumidification and humidification Chilled water LPHW Building Management Systems Domestic & process H&CWS
You will identify client requirements, liaise with specialist providers, and attend client meetings to finalise designs. The role is mainly office-based with site visits for surveys. Most projects are in pharmaceutical, healthcare, and food sectors, delivering detailed designs for research facilities and complex sterile manufacturing environments. What youll bring
