Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, were enabling the energy essential to support our lives.

We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.

This role will be within our Transmission & Renewablesteam.

We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400k V.

Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

What will you be doing: Were recruiting a Design Engineer with expertise in OHL (Overhead Lines) for our Energy Division.

This role is hybrid to our Nottingham office.

  • Interpret project requirements and develop engineering solutions that meet applicable standards. - Produce design calculations, drawings, reports, specifications and supporting documentation. - Prepare feasibility studies, assessments and technical notes. - Carry out site visits, inspections, surveys and assessments to gather design information. - Record site data accurately and identify risks, constraints or opportunities relevant to design development. - Work collaboratively with internal teams including engineers, technicians, project managers, planners and delivery teams. - Liaise with clients, stakeholders and third parties to resolve design queries and obtain required information. - Ensure coordinated design outputs across all related disciplines - Follow internal design procedures, quality standards and assurance requirements. - Ensure all outputs comply with relevant legislation, safety requirements and technical standards. - Maintain accurate design records, version control and documentation. - Identify opportunities for improvement or innovation in design processes.

  • To be able to use PLS CADD and Tower software. - To have working knowledge of National Grid, SPEN, SSE, ENA and other relevant industry standards. - Have knowledge of different types of conductors, insulators and fittings. - Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering. - Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team. - Good written and verbal communication skills.
