Where will you be working?

At M Group, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Metering team, you’ll join the leading provider of metering services and data collection in the UK energy retail sector, providing efficient and flexible services for gas, electricity and water meters. Our meter workers install, maintain and manage meters to ensure customers are billed correctly and energy usage patterns are monitored. We leverage our industry expertise and data insight capabilities to create solutions that fit the needs of our customers.

What will you be doing?

As a Bid Designer within M Group, you will be responsible for creating visually compelling, high-quality bid and proposal materials that clearly communicate our value proposition and differentiate our services in a competitive market. Working alongside Bid Managers and subject matter experts, you will translate and simplify complex technical and operational information into engaging, professional, and customer-focused visual content. Your work will play a critical role in work winning by improving evaluator engagement and strengthening customer messaging.

You will champion design quality across all submissions whether written documents, presentations, or graphics, ensuring they reflect a consistent, high standard of design that aligns with our brand, values, and expertise. Beyond producing high-quality graphics, you will challenge traditional approaches to bid design, introducing innovative ways to communicate complex information and improve readability, accessibility and evaluator experience.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Bid Design & Visual Content Development
    • Design and produce high-quality, visually engaging bid documents, presentations, and supporting materials.
    • Translate complex technical, operational, and commercial content into clear, compelling visual formats (e.g. infographics, diagrams, process maps).
    • Create layouts and document structures that enhance readability, accessibility, and evaluator experience.
    • Ensure all bid materials align with brand guidelines and maintain a consistent, professional visual identity.
    • Develop graphics and visual elements that clearly communicate key win themes, value propositions, and differentiators; maintaining a library of reusable content.
    • Design customer presentations, interview decks and supporting visual material for tender submissions, clarification meetings and post-tender activities.
  • Collaboration & Bid Support
    • Work closely with Bid Managers to understand bid strategies, win themes, and customer messaging.
    • Participate in storyboard sessions to shape how content is visually presented and communicated.
    • Engage with subject matter experts to accurately reflect technical information in visual formats.
    • Collaborate with Bid Managers to develop visual solutions that improve evaluator understanding and maximise scoring against evaluation criteria.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery to tight deadlines.
  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
    • Ensure all visual content is accurate, consistent, and aligned with the overall bid narrative.
    • Review and enhance existing materials to improve clarity, impact, and professionalism.
    • Maintain and develop the visual elements of the bid library, including templates, graphics, and reusable assets.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance design standards and bid presentation approaches.
    • Support post-submission reviews to improve visual quality in future bids.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in graphic design, bid design, or producing high-quality professional visual collateral within a commercial or regulated environment.
  • Experience working in bids, proposals, or sales environments.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to communicate complex information through engaging customer-focused visual design.
  • Advanced proficiency in design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud - InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to challenge traditional document layouts and recommend creative solutions that improve readability and scoring through evaluator engagement and customer understanding.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality outputs.
  • Strong understanding of document layout, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with bid teams and stakeholders across the business.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interpret requirements and provide creative input.
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the energy, decarbonisation, utilities, or in-home services sector.
