Where will you be working? At M Group Energy we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Distribution and Connections division. As one of the largest Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) in the UK, we support distribution network operations across infrastructure. Our team installs and maintains distribution networks and ensures reliable connections for customers, carrying out electrical planned work, customer connections and network reinforcement.
We’re looking for an Estimator to join our growing team in Bury St Edmunds. This is a great opportunity for someone with estimating experience in the electrical infrastructure sector to play a key role in reviewing opportunities, preparing competitive tenders, and supporting the successful delivery of projects. Working closely with internal teams, suppliers, and clients, you’ll help drive projects from initial enquiry through to handover.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assess new opportunities and support bid/no-bid decisions.
- Review tender documents, identify risks, and flag any issues.
- Prepare estimates and quotations from client specifications and drawings.
- Work with procurement, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
- Review projects technically and build accurate project cost estimates.
- Produce project programmes and support the handover of awarded work.
- Attend handover and client meetings where required.
- Complete company procedures and financial documentation.
- Collaborate with the estimating team to review and improve submissions.
- Support post-tender presentations with clients.
- Work closely with colleagues to meet team and business targets.
- Help foster an inclusive and diverse working environment.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience estimating projects, ideally within the ICP and/or DNO sector.
- Knowledge of HV & LV installations and switchgear.
- Understanding of construction planning and project sequencing.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative approach and ability to work well within a team.
- Good understanding of health & safety requirements.
- Degree-level education (or equivalent experience).
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Self-motivated with strong organisation and time management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Nice to have:
- HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- NEBOSH Safety Management qualification.
