You’ll be joining our Civils projects team - We deliver specialist civil engineering for the private and public sectors across the UK, building strong relationships based on a collaborative approach.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll manage the day-to-day commercial activity across your contracts, making sure valuations, cost reporting and contract processes are accurate, timely and compliant. You’ll work closely with operational, finance and procurement teams to manage risk, protect margin and keep commercial information clear and reliable. You’ll also support less experienced colleagues, helping maintain consistent standards across the team.
What will you be doing? The tasks and responsibilities you’ll take on.
- Pre-contract: You’ll support the commercial setup of projects.
- Support tender activity and supplier engagement
- Work with Procurement to define work packages and contract terms
- Support tender evaluation and contract award processes
- Valuation and change management: You’ll manage valuations and contract administration in line with requirements.
- Produce accurate, contract-compliant valuations and applications
- Check and assure the quality of valuations completed by others
- Monitor certifications, payments and cash receipts
- Address non-compliance and manage rejections or disputes
- Maintain contract administration processes, including notices and correspondence
- Review valuations regularly and support junior colleagues to improve
- Supply chain and cost management: You’ll support effective control of cost and value.
- Validate cost data from finance systems
- Maintain accurate accruals and support margin performance
- Build working relationships with supply chain partners and resolve issues early
- Manage subcontract administration, including onboarding, notices and accounts
- Support cost management planning across projects
- Cost and financial management: You’ll help ensure reporting is accurate and aligned.
- Check cost data, including actuals, accruals and liabilities
- Make sure reporting is completed to the required standard
- Maintain cost management plans in line with Group requirements
- Support risk and opportunity assessments
- Record keeping: You’ll keep commercial records accurate and up to date.
- Maintain registers for valuations, payments, notices and correspondence
- Ensure site records, diaries and returns are complete
- Maintain subcontract documentation and supporting records
- Keep risk and opportunity registers updated
- Contract performance reporting: You’ll support clear and reliable performance reporting.
- Produce cashflow, WIP and cost/value forecasts
- Support pipeline and revenue forecasting
- Check that reporting is complete and meets required standards
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly CVRs
- Share insight on risks, opportunities and performance trends
- Work with clients and internal teams to validate SLA and KPI performance

- Strong working knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts

- Contract and supply chain understanding
- Experience supporting subcontract management and contract administration
- Ability to identify and raise commercial risks and issues
- Able to build effective working relationships across teams
- Comfortable working with operational, finance and procurement colleagues
- Willing to support and guide junior colleagues
- Shares knowledge and helps maintain consistent standards
- HND / Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience
