We are recruiting for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our SHEQ team in and around Aberdeen. We are a leading partner in the largest programme of energy infrastructure upgrade works in the UK since the construction of the National Grid. This role is vital to help us deliver our projects and will be working within our overhead line and substation businesses.
You’ll be responsible for day-to-day environmental management of high-profile projects, working directly with site teams and customer representatives. This role is site based as you will be supporting our Scottish clients, although there may be some rare requirements to travel to England and Wales. As this role is site based, we do require you to have a driving licence.
- Provide specialist support on ecological, environmental and sustainability matters across the business.
- Identify and address wider environmental risks, offering advice, training, controls and mitigation for site-based projects.
- Carry out environmental and ecological surveys during construction and reinstatement phases.
- Prepare written responses for tender submissions, including risks, opportunities and innovations.
- Contribute to the development, maintenance and implementation of environmental management procedures and processes.
- Support delivery of sustainability targets and commitments under the company’s Sustainability Strategy.
- Implement meaningful changes relating to carbon reduction, waste management, workforce upskilling and community benefits.
- Select and manage third-party contractors delivering ecological and environmental works.
Minimum five years experience working in an environmental role within a construction environment.
- Degree (or equivalent qualification/experience) in Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related subject.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good working knowledge of UK environmental legislation, standards and guidelines.
- Experience implementing environmental and sustainability initiatives, improvements and mitigation.
- Detailed understanding of environmental survey methods, assessment techniques, mitigation and control measures.
- Experience in subcontractor appointment and management.
- Experience delivering works under planning permission or Development Consent Orders / Section 37.
- Previous experience reviewing near-miss and incident reports and conducting environmental investigations.
