As a Risk Engineer, you'll support our major M&E projects by working across contracts with our key clients in the transmission sector. Reporting directly to the Risk Manager and alongside our project teams, you will contribute to a culture of proactive risk management that safeguards our people, protects programme performance and supports our reputation for delivering complex infrastructure on time and within budget. You'll be instrumental in identifying, quantifying, and mitigating threats and supporting opportunities to improve project performance across our portfolio of substations.

We're looking for someone based in the South West or South Wales due to our projects being in these locations with our main office being in Newport. This is a Hybrid position.

  • Maintain package risk registers through risk reviews, risk workshops and health checking, working collaboratively with the project teams.
  • Facilitate structured risk workshops with project teams, supply chain partners, and client representatives using recognised methodologies.
  • Ensure mitigations are SMART and are kept under review as to their effective and efficient performance to manage risk to required levels.
  • Prepare Quantified Risk Analysis (QRAs) throughout the project lifecycle and in readiness for stage-gate reviews, embedding techniques and tools on all projects alongside the project teams.
  • Support the Early Warning Register (EWR) process, ensuring timely identification and communication of compensation events and project risks.
  • Contribute to Risk Reduction Meetings and Programme Risk Reviews.
  • Provide support to the Risk Manager, Project Managers, and Project teams.
  • Utilise and champion digital risk tools and support the adoption of data-driven risk analytics and predictive modelling techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • Proficient in QRA processes and its application on construction projects and possess a strong aptitude for schedule, cost, risk, change management activities as well as analytical reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience in risk management, understands the need to adapt risk information to different audiences and can interact well with people across the organisation - able to build relationships internally within M Group and with clients.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying risk management best practices, e.g.; understand the risk contribution to the monthly reporting process.
  • Formal Risk Management qualification (e.g. BA, MA, IRM Certificate / Diploma, APM Risk, or similar).
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between project sites.
