We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. This role will be within our demand management and network infrastructure team. We look after 60 million meters and our teams provide advanced metering solutions to help manage demand for essential suppliers.

As our SHEQ Advisor, you'll play a key role across multiple contracts across Kent, Hampshire, and Sussex, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of work. This is a primarily field-based role (75% on-site), providing hands-on assistance to operational teams. The remaining time will be spent focusing on reporting, documentation, and coordination, which can be completed in an office or remotely (with approval).

You’ll conduct site inspections, review and approve RAMS, and ensure compliance with M Group Water standards. The role includes producing detailed inspection reports, advising teams on best practices, and promoting continual improvement in safety, health, environmental, and quality performance.

You’ll investigate incidents, identify root causes, and produce actionable reports to prevent recurrence, ensuring all incidents are reported in line with company and statutory requirements. Additional responsibilities include compiling KPI reports, supporting audits, maintaining compliance records, delivering inductions, and assisting with SHEQ communications.

You’ll champion a proactive safety culture by encouraging near-miss reporting, accident prevention initiatives, conducting drug and alcohol testing, and engaging with site teams to uphold high standards of safety and quality.

What you’ll bring:

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
  • Valid certifications, such as Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card, EUSR SHEA Gas/Power, and/or EUSR Water Hygiene
  • Comprehensive understanding of UK health and safety legislation, best practices, and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of the water industry, including temporary works, street works, and underground utility services
  • Familiarity with occupational health risk environments, such as utility service avoidance
  • Ability to deliver engaging and effective training sessions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings

Support the Operational and SHEQ Teams following investigations that may have highlighted an assurance check on a part of the business where the competency minimum standards have fallen below expectations. Assist with a plan to raise the levels back to the required standard for Morrison Water Services and Thames Water.
