This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

As our Design Civil Engineer you'll be responsible for the civil design of wastewater network solutions:

  • Prepare and analyse key design options, for review and agreement with the Project Manager and the client.
  • Ensure risks and gaps are mitigated whilst always upholding the Project Basis of Design.
  • Conduct engineering evaluations (with field inspections) and feasibility studies for wastewater projects, analysing data and identifying potential issues or improvements.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers and the Southern Water Enabling Team to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Escalate issues that may impact on time/cost/quality before they become a problem or exceed agreed timescales.

Minimum of HND or bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering or able to demonstrate a suitable level of experience.

Do you have a strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, including pumped treatment systems and hydraulics? Have you gained a minimum of 2 years experience within the water industry? Proficiency in using engineering software and tools, such as MS Office suite and relevant engineering design software packages. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve engineering issues. Do you have knowledge of environmental regulations and permit requirements in relation to water and wastewater treatment facilities? Are you committed to continuous learning and professional development in the field of water and wastewater engineering? Professional registration will be supported.
