At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.

We design, build and commission high-voltage substations up to 400kV and deliver major overhead line projects. Some of our work supports brand-new low-carbon infrastructure, and some keeps the existing network running safely and reliably. Either way, you’ll be helping to keep the country powered.

We’re growing our Estimating team and looking for people to join us in Annesley, Nottinghamshire (23 days a week in the office) in the following roles:

  • Estimator Substations
  • Estimator Overhead Lines (OHL)
  • Senior Estimator Substations & OHL (18-month FTC)

You’ll work closely with bid, design, commercial and project teams to pull together accurate, competitive tenders. Day-to-day, you’ll be:

  • Spotting scope and risks
  • Helping kick off bids and shaping bid programmes
  • Working with procurement and commercial teams
  • Challenging and reviewing project solutions
  • Comparing supply chain quotes and benchmarking costs
  • Building tender prices in Excel (Candy software may come later)
  • Preparing client pricing documents and supporting presentations
  • Building strong working relationships across the business

What You’ll Bring

  • Estimator Substations: Experience in 400kV substation projects (preferred), Infrastructure project experience (essential)
  • Estimator Overhead Lines (OHL): Experience in 400kV OHL estimating (preferred), Infrastructure project experience (essential)
  • Senior Estimator (FTC): Solid estimating experience across substations and/or OHL, Confidence leading major bids and supporting strategic tendering

For All Roles

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specs
  • Basic understanding of engineering/construction terminology
  • Basic understanding of contractual terminology
  • Strong Excel skills and good general Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Ability to work under pressure and hit deadlines
  • A proactive, organised and methodical approach
  • Flexibility around working hours

If you’re an Estimator with a civils background rather than HV experience, we’ve also got a role in our Distribution & EV team. It’s a hybrid role based in Bootle, working on safe, high-quality EV charging projects. You’ll review bids, assess risks, build rates from first principles and support tender submissions perfect if you’re passionate about net zero and want to be part of a fast-moving, future-focused team.
