Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure. This role will be within our demand management and network infrastructure team. We look after 60 million meters and our teams provide advanced metering solutions to help manage demand for essential suppliers.
What will you be doing?
Join us as an Environmental Advisor and play a key role in shaping environmentally responsible projects from early design through to commissioning. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and client environmental specialists, identifying hazards, constraints and requirements to ensure every stage of our work meets the highest environmental standards. You’ll coordinate surveys, permits and consents, and help develop effective environmental and waste management plans. Out on site, you’ll provide clear guidance to construction teams, carry out inspections, support incident investigations, and drive timely implementation of corrective actions. Your proactive approach will help embed continuous improvement, from delivering training to championing innovative ways of working. What you’ll bring:
- Previous experience as an Environmental Advisor in a construction environment (Utilities experience preferable)
- A recognised environmental qualification (degree level preferred) and professional membership of IEMA (or equivalent) at the appropriate level.
- Experience of supporting environmental surveys and design mitigation, liaison and coordination of diverse teams of environmental and ecological specialists to deliver construction projects.
- Be a self-motivated, and efficient individual with strong teamwork and negotiation skills, capable of delivering confident articulate presentations, able to work on own initiative, prioritise workloads and have a willingness to travel to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrable passion for the Environment and Sustainability, driving innovation and an ability and desire to positively influence and develop those around them.
- Have effective communication skills whilst maintaining high levels of confidentiality and integrity.
- Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and be able to collate data, with attention to detail and produce accurate reports.
- Must hold a valid driving licence.
- Be willing to obtain CSCS card and EUSR, National Water Hygiene Water qualifications. (Training will be given)
