Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, we're enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. This role will be covering South West England with regular visits to regional offices.

What will you be doing? Do you have experience in a similar level role, balancing a portfolio of multiple projects? As a Commercial Manager, you'll take responsibility for the strategy and execution of the commercial function on all tenders and projects in the region. Are you passionate about leadership and development? You'll train and develop staff to improve knowledge and commercial performance.

  • Drive commercial success by shaping and executing project strategies in partnership with the Portfolio Manager.
  • Champion HSEQ leadership while inspiring and developing high-performing commercial teams through training and mentorship.
  • Lead tender reviews, identify risks and opportunities, and deliver robust CVR and progress reporting to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Project Teams to optimize forecasts, cashflow, and business plan performance.
  • Build strong client and supplier relationships to secure new work and resolve disputes.
  • Oversee procurement, ensure contractual compliance, and spearhead improvements in regional commercial performance through innovation, training, and strategic leadership.

What you'll bring:

  • Commercially astute with substantial proven experience in a similar role, ideally working on National Grid substation projects.
  • Degree qualified.
  • Expert knowledge of standard forms of contract including NEC 3/4, JCT & FIDIC.
  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills.
  • Experience in undertaking reviews of contract terms & negotiating with the client.
  • Understanding of programme techniques and project controls.
  • Proven experience in people management.
  • Full UK driving licence - willingness to travel across regional sites.
