The Managing Quantity Surveyor leads the commercial development and assurance of all commercial aspects of assigned projects. The role is responsible for supporting competitive bid submissions, ensuring pricing, cost models and contractual considerations enable profitable and compliant project delivery. It also oversees in-life commercial management, including change tracking, project P&L performance and supplier commercial management.
Working closely with the Contract Director, Bid Teams and Delivery Leads, the role drives contract success through effective margin management, cost control and commercial risk mitigation, ensuring projects are commercially robust, deliverable and well positioned to secure future work.
- Support the creation of contract data, tender costs, resource plans and submitted programmes.
- Assist with scope development, mini tenders and contract formation.
- Collate and report costs, challenging value against actual performance.
- Apply risk mitigation measures and deliver cost assurance reports against project baselines.
Requirements:
- Significant experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor role.
- Experience managing commercial activities on complex infrastructure, telecoms, utilities, or engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of contract law and commercial best practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting tools.
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or working towards chartership.
- NEC accreditation and strong NEC contract management experience.
- Experience within telecoms, utilities, power, fibre, or critical infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of project controls, earned value management, and programme management principles.
