Where will you be working? At M Group Energy we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission and Renewables team in Wales and South West England. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
What will you be doing?
- Civil works on high-voltage substations - earthworks, drainage, ducting, trough systems
- Pouring reinforced concrete foundations for transformers, reactors, and other heavy kit
- Laying paths, hard standings, kerbs, fencing, and road formations
- Driving plant (rollers, dumpers, excavators) and using safe dig techniques (Cat & Genny)
- Installing temporary works for drainage (tanks, separators, pumping stations, chambers)
- Handling permits, safety docs, and daily briefs once you’re trained up
- Taking on National Grid safety responsibilities when you’re competent
What you’ll bring:
- Experience with National Grid or substations? Great. If not, civil engineering background is essential
- You’re 18+ (health & safety rules)
- Full UK manual driving licence - transport sorted by us
- Happy working outdoors, whatever the weather throws at you
- Team player who knows the value of mucking in together
- Handy with tools and good manual dexterity
- Comfortable in confined spaces and physically fit for demanding work
- Up for travelling nationwide and staying away when needed
