We deliver specialist civil engineering for the private and public sectors across the UK, building strong relationships based on a collaborative approach.
The Commercial Administrator role is designed for candidates without industry experience or qualifications, providing exposure to commercial activities and opportunities to progress within the Administration team or into entry-level roles in Commercial, Procurement or Cost Management. In this role you will support the implementation and compliance of commercial management systems and processes while gaining skills that open several career pathways. What will you be doing?
- You’ll complete administrative tasks by extracting information from electronic and paper site returns and entering it into commercial management systems.
- You’ll process applications submitted to clients, along with identifying and raising queries where data is missing, unclear, or contradictory.
- We’ll ask you to maintain data schedules to capture key project or programme information as directed by your line manager or commercial lead.
- In the role you’ll communicate with operational staff to submit requests and follow up on overdue returns.
- Learning and following governance requirements outlined in M Group policy documents.
- We’ll ask you to sometimes carry out ad hoc administrative tasks assigned by your line manager.
- In this role you’ll learn and adapt to new tasks as required throughout each project phase.
- You’ll need to work to agreed timescales and manage deadlines, raising any workload issues to your line manager promptly.
- It’s vital you complete all mandatory training on the M Group training portal and stay up to date with new or refresher courses.
- Understanding the different phases of projects and programmes, recognising how your responsibilities change as they progress.
What you’ll bring:
- No prior industry experience required.
- Good standard of general education (for example, GCSEs or equivalent).
- Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel.
- Ability to manage tasks, learn new systems, and adapt to changing project phases.
- Previous work in infrastructure or construction environments desirable.
- Experience or familiarity with any of the following systems is desirable: Finance systems, Purchasing systems, Stock management systems, Commercial management systems.
