Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure. This role will be within our water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.
What will you be doing?
As our Senior Estimator you will be part of an estimating team reporting to our Managing Estimator South on the Framework to which you are assigned. You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate and timely estimates across a mix of one-off projects, packages of work for both Infrastructure Clean and Wastewater. You’ll provide estimating support with bids and contracts to ensure robust pricing, risk management and governance. Assist and advise the Senior Management Team on commercial influences and risks around any bids. Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to produce accurate and timely estimates/cost data. You’ll ensure where possible supplier/subcontractor terms are back-to-back with the client requirements and if not to impact assess any deviations. You’ll be responsible for prioritising workload and supporting the team to produce results in a timely manner to meet business needs. Day to day liaison with, and influencing of, key stakeholders, such as customers and operational colleagues. You’ll have the opportunity to develop and implement changes to process, following understanding of a need to make changes to improve performance.
What you’ll bring
- Experience within the water industry is essential, preferably within both water and wastewater environments, but also advantageous to have other utility estimating experience
- Preferably experience of delivering water and/or wastewater projects
- Effective communication and negotiating skills
- Excellent people management skills
- Ability and desire to identify opportunities and influence change
- Ability to react to constant workloads and delegate accordingly
- Commercial and contractual knowledge and understanding
- Able to follow process and governance
- Preferably degree qualified in engineering, Quantity Surveying, cost & planning or similar
