Where will you be working? At M Group Energy, we are enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity. This role offers a hybrid setup; Caldicot office / site visits across South West & South Wales and some remote working.
What will you be doing? We're looking for a skilled professional to join our team and provide technical support for our National Grid HV substation projects! As a Commissioning Manager, you will lead and manage commissioning activities across projects delivered under long-term framework agreements. The role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and safely delivering commissioning activities to programme, quality, and client requirements. You will act as the Commissioning Lead, working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, SAPs, Protection Engineers, and client representatives to ensure safe and efficient energisation of assets.
- Produce commissioning plans, ensuring compliance with current legislation
- Test and commission HV plant and apparatus
- Review and correct drawings and resolve any design issues
- Attend client meetings, managing commissioning resources and subcontractors
- Manage people safely and mentor team members to enhance their technical knowledge

What you will bring:
- Proven track record in Testing and Commissioning on High Voltage distribution and/or transmission networks
- Sound experience of engineering policy, procedure, and legislation
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to identify and develop processes to improve outputs
- Effective communication and engagement with internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of current HSE legislation
- Team player, working well with clients, designers, and site project staff
- Qualified to HNC/Degree Level in Electrical Engineering
- Full UK driving licence you will need to travel to sites
