Where will you be working?

At M Group Energy, we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives. We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation. This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission Overhead Lines at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

What will you be doing?

M Group are currently looking to recruit a Project Planner to work on our Transmission Networks Division in Scotland. As a Project Planner you will be part of our planning department who are responsible for producing robust and detailed programmes for all works associated with the design, procurement and construction phases of the projects. Also, a key part of the role will be liaising with the Project/Construction Manager and Site Engineers to ensure that the programme keeps abreast of any changes.

  • This is a hybrid role, working 3 days on site around Glasgow and Aberdeen, so travel and a full UK driving licence is required.
  • Build, optimise and implement construction planning and programmes (including resources, outages, consents and wayleaves) in conjunction with interested parties to deliver the work.
  • When necessary, produce detailed trackers to be used to collect and report progress made on a weekly basis.
  • Work with the Head of Commercial and the planning team to develop a planning culture throughout the business units and projects.
  • With other members of the team deliver full integration of the company’s cost management system to help deliver automatic CPI/SPI reports together with robust processes and disciplines.
  • Champion programme management policies, procedures and the standards required to deliver projects.
  • Participate in project handover meetings involving the Bid team, Project Manager and Q.S.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Project Q.S. to maximise the potential of each project, attend site meetings when necessary.
  • Provide planning input at tender stage.
  • Represent the business at client meetings and ensure deadlines are achieved (KPI requirements).
  • Gather benchmarking information to aid the value for money assessment on each project.
  • In conjunction with the risk management and value engineer produce and manage the risk, issue and opportunity register for assigned projects within the change management.
  • Keep abreast of current and new planning techniques, technologies and initiatives which may have a benefit for the business.
  • Maintain ongoing development and delivery of a co-ordinated change agenda for business improvement.
  • Work cohesively with the commercial and financial members of the Planning and Systems team.
  • Monitor and control programme compliance in respect of our contractual obligations.
  • In conjunction with other members of the team, take responsibility for meeting agreed business and project targets, control costs in achieving to achieve targets, managing risks effectively and delivering all agreed outputs, within the agreed economics and safety regulatory framework.
  • Contributing to the identification and formulation of strategic objectives.
