This role will be within our Clean Water Capital Delivery Team - Our teams deliver various schemes from Mains Renewal, Diversions and PMVs all in aid of supporting the UU clean water network.

The Subcontract Procurement Manager will report to the Head of Procurement and work within the Northern Commercial team, while collaborating closely with both divisional and project stakeholders. The role is central to overseeing subcontract procurement activities, ensuring alignment with organisational standards, and driving efficiency and cost management benefits. This includes managing supplier relationships, leading subcontract sourcing efforts, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies, standards, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) commitments.

  • Procurement professional responsible for delivering subcontract savings and efficiency improvements while managing end-to-end competitive tendering (RFQs, ITTs).
  • Negotiates and awards subcontracts in line with budgets, timelines, and compliance standards.
  • Builds strong supplier relationships, monitors performance, and implements corrective actions to ensure quality and continuity.
  • Conducts structured tender evaluations, mitigates commercial and supply chain risks, and enhances procurement processes and reporting.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to align subcontract strategies with project needs.
  • Ensures compliance with organisational standards, supports governance and ESG priorities, manages supplier onboarding, and analyses spend to provide actionable insights on performance, pipeline, and cost savings.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in subcontract procurement, including NEC3 and NEC4 subcontract forms and bespoke client contracts.
  • Expertise in scoping, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and contract placement.
  • Proficiency in procurement technologies (e.g., ERP systems) and MS Office tools, especially Excel.
  • Strong organisational, data analysis, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects effectively.
