Where will you be working? Our Aviation team works across a wide range of specialist civil, mechanical and electrical engineering works including major international airports, regional airports and RAF airfields.
What will the apprentice be doing? To learn all aspects of groundworks whilst working onsite with experienced operatives including drainage, foundations, road and footpath construction, slab laying, curb laying, as a brief outline of what you may be doing.
- To work on site learning and assisting experienced groundworkers
- Assisting in clearing and preparing site for construction work to commence
- Duties will vary depending on what works are being carried out on site
- Interpretation of plans and drawings
- Laying, levelling, and finishing concrete for foundations and floors
- Laying kerbs, channels, and pathways
- Use and maintain power tools and equipment
- General labouring duties
- Keeping the work area clean and tidy
- Comply with all Health and Safety legislation
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end? As part of this role, you will be required to study towards the Groundworker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship? As an Apprentice, you will be recruited on a permanent contract and after completing your apprenticeship you will be promoted into the business. You will also have further development opportunity through professional qualification or training courses.
